Rupert Murdoch's Curous NATO Vision

Mon, 21 Apr 2008 18:55:56 PDT
From James Joyner: News Corporation chairman Rupert Murdoch says that NATO is in a “crisis of confidence” because Western Europe is “losing its faith in the values and institutions that have kept us free.” He calls for a radical redefinition of the Alliance in order to save it, including extending membership to Australia, Japan, and Israel. Murdoch, who is receiving the Atlantic Council of the United States’ Distinguished Business Leader Award for 2008, says in his prepared remarks that, “We m

Is FLDS a Racist Cult? You make the call….

Mon, 21 Apr 2008 18:56:44 PDT
Why hasn’t the press spoke about the racist teachings of the FLDS? Could it be that it’s because the whole Mormon Religion is guilty of racism? Why haven’t we heard about the Mormons teachings on Blacks? Warren Jeffs might have expounded on them but they are still at the heart of The Later Day Saints teachings! Here is an artcle posted on the Rick Ross website… FLDS added to list of hate groups Salt Lake Tribune/April 21, 2005 By Pamela Manson Comments by the leader of a Utah-based polyga

The Silencing of the Bagpipes

Mon, 21 Apr 2008 18:56:46 PDT
The sound of bagpipes has stirred the hearts of millions, with it’s mournful dirge that tells of sorrows, glories, and the love of freedom. But in these days of political correctness, the silencing of the pipes may become the latest casualty of the nanny state and of a large clueless European Union bureaucracy that dictates with ...]

Bus Ruckus on Clark Street

Mon, 21 Apr 2008 18:57:11 PDT
BHB reader “SM” wrote to us: Homer: There is something going on on the corner of Clark and Hicks. . . . I don’t know what, but lots of firemen mulling about . . . BHB Newshound/Superphotographer Marc Hermann has the answer: This was a charter bus that ended up getting its rear tire stuck in a ConEd vault. There was apparently a slight violent reaction on the part of the manhole upon impact. FDNY utilized Rescue Co. 2 to lift the bus out of its predicament, and turned the scene over to ConEd

Sloppy Sunday

Mon, 21 Apr 2008 18:58:11 PDT
The plan was to get up early and scoot over to Newport News to the Casey Crit so Ellie could race Juniors, then I’d race 40+. That way we’d be back in Norfolk in time for her 2:15 p.m. soccer game. But the rain Sunday morning changed both out minds. Ellie didn’t want to race in the wet again. I didn’t want to race on that course when it was wet. The track around Todd Stadium is hairy enough when it’s dry. Turns out there were a number of crashes, including one that took out four Cat 4 racers,

Official: BBC Making People Nauseous.....

Mon, 21 Apr 2008 18:58:27 PDT
I've been suffering from this for as long as I can remember.... It cost £550,000 and was supposed to usher in a new era for the BBC. But the much-heralded redesign of the corporation's flagship news bulletins got off to a shaky start after viewers complained of dizziness and nausea. Others criticised the makeover, which features a swirling red globe in the title sequences, as "a colossal waste" of licence-fee payers' money. Rest here>>> ZIP

Casting Notes

Mon, 21 Apr 2008 18:59:25 PDT
My friend Andi Arndt emails with news of a new site you might want to check out. It’s called Casting Notes and is still in beta. A quick look around suggests it’s weighted to the on-camera and stage sides of the acting equations. No big surprise there, because there are so many more actors in those categories. But, there’s room for voice actors to feel at home, too. Bookmark to: Hide Sites
